Every child deserves to feel understood, not "fixed."
You might be seeking therapy for your child after years of noticing that things feel “different” for them compared to their peers. Perhaps they have more intense meltdowns, or struggle forming and maintaining friendships. Maybe you know they’re super bright but they can’t hand in a worksheet to save their life, and they lose a water bottle at least once a month. Often, it is how we experience our neurodivergent children that lets us know something else is going on for them.
Whether your child has ADHD, Autism, sensory processing differences, or another form of neurodivergence, they experience the world in ways that may not be understood or supported by the people around them. Simply put, our society was not built with them in mind.
I aim to provide a space where your child feels safe, accepted, and empowered to better understand themselves. Rather than trying to change who they are, we will begin to understand how their brain works, honor their unique strengths, and build skills that help them move through this world with more ease and less shame.
While I provide practical strategies for emotional regulation, executive functioning, and daily routines, my primary focus is helping your child process their experience of being neurodivergent. Many neurodivergent children also struggle with anxiety, depression (which often looks more like irritability or aggression in kids), or loneliness after years feeling misunderstood, left out, or "different."
Therapy offers a place to make sense of these experiences and recognize that their brain wiring isn't wrong, it's simply different. We may or may not use EMDR in this process, and if that is the case, we will discuss what that might look like.
My hope is that your child leaves therapy not only with new coping skills, but with a stronger sense of self, greater self compassion, and the confidence to embrace who they are.
Parent involvement
Parents are a vital part of the therapeutic process, and I promise that parenting through a neuro-affirming lens is going to be a game changer for you.
During parent sessions, we'll explore practical, neuro-affirming strategies that reduce power struggles, support regulation, and strengthen your relationship with your child. You'll leave with tools you can confidently use at home, and a deeper understanding of your child's nervous system, behavior, and needs.
